TCkids Director

REPORTS TO: Lead Pastor
SUPERVISES: TCkids Coordinator and Kids Volunteers
POSITION TYPE: Part-time, Salaried

Job Summary:

The TCkids Director is responsible for leading and executing all aspects of the children’s ministry (birth–4th grade), partnering with parents to help their children find and follow Jesus. This role oversees Sunday programming, curriculum development, volunteer leadership, and all TCkids events.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Volunteers

  • Lead and communicate the vision, philosophy, and mission of TCkids and Church of the Commons
  • Recruit, develop, and train leaders to implement and run effective TCkids programming, including volunteers and coaches
  • Provide ongoing care, encouragement, and development for volunteers
  • Communicate regularly with volunteers (respond to emails within 48 hours)

Sunday Morning Programming

  • Oversee and lead all Sunday morning TCkids programming from start to finish
  • Develop and execute engaging, age-appropriate curriculum for birth–4th grade
  • Write weekly lessons, scripts, and activities for small group and large group environments
  • Ensure all materials, supplies, and environments are prepared in advance
  • Arrive prior to services to ensure TCkids environments are fully set up 
  • Stay after services to help facilitate teardown of the TCkids environment 
  • Oversee teams to ensure rooms are set up, staffed, and running effectively 
  • Lead volunteers (or equip coaches to lead) in a pre-service huddle
  • Welcome and connect with new families

Events & Milestones

  • Plan, organize, and execute all TCkids events throughout the year
  • Lead both fun, engaging events (e.g., Sunday Fundays, special themed days) and rhythmic ministry events (e.g., Family Dedication, Baptism classes, etc.) programming, including volunteers and coaches
  • Ensure events align with the mission and create meaningful next steps for families
  • Collaborate with church staff to integrate TCkids into larger church-wide events

Meetings / Obligations

  • Attend staff meetings
  •  Schedule and lead meetings with the TCkids team, including Kids and Childcare Coordinators, as needed 
  • Oversee Kids and Childcare Coordinators

Necessary Skills & Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience in leading a children’s ministry or related field
  •  Active walk with Christ and consistently exhibiting Christ-like character 
  • Strong writing and curriculum development skills 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate with other leaders 
  • Ability to organize, supervise, and lead staff, volunteers, kids, and parents
