Questions?
Ask Away!
How are age groups divided?
Early childhood: 0-11 months; 1-2 years; and 3-5 years. Elementary: Kindergarten; 1st and 2nd grade girls; 1st and 2nd grade boys; 3rd and 4th grade girls; 3rd and 4th grade boys
How do I register my kids?
For kids from birth through elementary age, just come to the Family Ministry Check-In desk when you arrive on Sunday morning. Someone will be there to help and to walk you to your child’s class.
What about allergies or special needs?
We’ll note that information when you register and make every accommodation we can. Our classrooms are nut-free, and we post any snacks we’re serving outside the classroom door.
What if you need to get in touch with me during the service?
For all first-time kids, we ask for a parent cell phone at check-in. We’ll text you during the service if there is any concern about your child. If your child has a difficult time at drop-off, we can also text you a photo of them having a great time once they settle in if you like
What about safety?
We take security and safety seriously at The Commons. TC volunteers are background checked, and a matching tag system is used to drop off and pick up children. We also have security in the halls during services and medical professionals on-call.
My child wants to be baptized. What should I do?
That’s awesome! We have a special baptism journal your child can complete with you to make sure they’re ready for this important step. Email baptism@cothecommons.com to learn more.
Do you have baby dedication services?
Yes! We have baby dedication services twice a year. You can register for baby dedication at cothecommons.com/events, or reach out to our TCkids Director or TCkids Coordinator to learn more.
Our Mission:
Helping students find and follow Jesus
TCstudents is a place where middle and high schoolers can belong, grow, and deepen their relationship with God and others. Students connect through events, camps, and grade-specific programming.
5th & 6th Grade
TC 56
This special space just for 5th and 6th graders helps bridge the transition from elementary to middle and high school. Along with fun and games, students take a more mature look at the Bible and are invited to ask deep questions about faith. Students start in the adult service with their families, and then are dismissed after the first portion of the service to go to their TC56 gathering.
7th - 12th Grade
The Wave
The Wave is a movement for 7th-12th graders to grow in their faith and connect with others. Students gather on Wednesday nights to worship, learn from the Bible, play games, and share in small groups.

What is baptism?
In TCkids we often liken baptism to a wedding ring. If you take off a wedding ring it doesn’t mean you’re no longer married. Baptism doesn’t make you a Christian any more than wearing a ring makes you married. Both are symbols of a covenant that has already taken place. Just as a ring is a sign of your commitment to another, the sacrament of baptism is a sign to the watching world that you have surrendered your life to Christ. It’s a public profession of a private decision to follow Jesus.
Why should I be baptized?
There are three primary reasons to be baptized. First, Jesus commands it. After the resurrection, Jesus commissioned the disciples with a cause the church still champions to this day: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). Consistently in Scripture, baptism is tied to belief. When someone believes in Jesus, they follow Him in baptism (Acts 8:12-13, Acts 2:41). It’s the first step of obedience after giving your life to Christ.
Secondly, Jesus did it. In Matthew 3:13-17, we see Jesus coming from Galilee to be baptized by John the Baptist. John protests, “I need to be baptized by You, and do You come to me?” But Jesus responds, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness” (Matthew 3:14-15). As Christians, we’re baptized to follow Jesus’ example.
Finally, baptism demonstrates that we are believers. Being plunged beneath the water is symbolic of dying to our old way of life. Being raised symbolizes the resurrection of Christ, which enables us to live as new creations. In this way, baptism illustrates the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 6:3-4, Colossians 2:12). To obey Christ in baptism is to declare that we are true believers, and we belong to Him (I John 2:3).
What can I expect on the day of baptism?
Bring a change of clothes for your baptism. You’ll be given a special shirt to wear, and there will be a towel ready for you. Don’t forget to invite friends and family to celebrate with you!
